Role debut as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with Opéra national de Paris
Following her staged-role debut as Léonor in La Favorite in Munich,Elīna Garanča heads to the Opéra national de Paris for another role debut as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana. In Mascagni’s dramatic one-act (paired here on a double-bill with Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna), the Latvian mezzo-soprano stars opposite Yonghoon Lee as Turiddu, Elena Zaremba as Lucia, Vitaliy Bilyy as Alfio, and Antoinette Dennefeld as Lola.
Carlo Rizzi conducts the new production, helmed by director Mario Martone. Elīna is heard in the premiere on November 30, with encore performances on December 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15.
